Quick Money Saving Tips to Reduce Energy Costs
With energy prices due to go up again in April, it’s worth reiterating some of the tips we’ve been sharing in this blog for saving on energy bills.
This time we have utilised the government’s own cost of living website, which suggests:
· Turning your combi boiler flow temperature down to 60°C could save you up to £100 a year
· Turning down radiators in rooms you aren’t using or use less could save you up to £70 a year
· Turning appliances off at the socket could save you up to £70 a year
· Washing clothes at a lower temperature could save you up to £40 a year. (Switching from 40°C to 30°C means you could get three cycles instead of two using the same amount of energy, depending on your washing machine)
· Using your tumble dryer less could save you £70 a year
· Closing all your curtains and blinds at night helps stop warm air from escaping through windows and reduces heating costs
· Track your energy usage using an app. If you have a smart meter, there are apps such as Utrack by Uswitch.
